Contest Description
The Design Contest is an international contest open to students studying in a technical school, college, university, or other educational institution, subject to the eligibility criteria described in this document.
The Design Contest is organized by the AMD University Program, in partnership with Europractice, and CNFM (the French Government coordination agency for Microelectronics and Nanotechnology).
The Open Hardware Design Contest is an online contest with prizes awarded for the best entries as determined by the organizers.

Registration
Registration is via the Design Contest website www.openhw.eu
Entry Levels
The Adaptive Computing category is open to projects that use AMD FPGA, Zynq SOC and Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC, and Versal Adaptive SOCs.
There are two levels in each category:
- PhD: Post-Graduate student/PhD candidate
- Student: Undergraduate student
Teams
Individuals, or teams of up to FIVE people can enter.
For the Student level, all participants must be undergraduate students. If one or more participants are PhD students, the team must enter at the PhD level.
Supervisors
Participants must be supervised by a senior member of staff (Advisor) from the same institute. Multiple entries from the same institute are allowed, and Advisors can supervise more than one team.
Eligibility Criteria
The contest is open to students (Bachelor, Master, or PhD) enrolled at accredited academic institutes in eligible countries.
Hardware Requirements
Projects must use at least one of the following hardware:
- Any AMD (Xilinx) Series 7 FPGA device or later
- Zynq SOC, Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC, Zynq RFSoC
- Versal Adaptive SOC
Awards
Prizes will be awarded for the best project(s) in each category, subject to sufficient entries. Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the organizers.
Judging Criteria
Projects will be judged based on the following categories:
- Technical Complexity
- Implementation
- Marketability/Innovation
- Documentation and Written Report
- Reusability
Intellectual Property
The project remains the intellectual property of the participant. However, organizers reserve the right to publish project materials for competition purposes.
